Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a therapy that is part of traditional Chinese medicine in which thin needles are used to stimulate points on the body.

What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a fundamental technique in the Chinese medical system. By inserting needles at precise points, helps to rebalance the energy system-vital. These points are located in a series of channels or “meridians,” ten basic (corresponding to the five viscera organs and five blocks), through which vital energy is distributed or “chi” throughout the body.

Each of these points have some specific applications based on three principles: rebalance, stimulate or sedate, the flow of life. The most important points, those that regulate energy fund, are placed elbows to fingers, forearms, knees and feet in the leg.

For the TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine), both organs are Yin in nature, as the bowels or viscera, Yang status, functions associated with much broader than those granted in the West. Functions ranging from its structure the most profound physiological or emotional. For example … The heart, Yin organ regulates blood flow and rhythm, blood and vessels. But among others, controls thought, speech, memory, sleep quality, or lack of joy in life … and is reflected in the language.

What is based acupuncture?
The basis of acupuncture are complex, but can be grouped under two major philosophical principles: the Tao (yin and yang) and the theory of five elements or movements.
U.S. both a basic concept, qi or chi or prana or breath or energy … (Everything is pure energy in different aspects and qualities and ever-changing) in the harmonious cosmos in chaos there is something unchanging and perfect that govern all unceasing mutations, Tao Yin :”… once, once yang, that Tao is the …”. Change, transformation, motion, relativity as a challenge to identity, complementarity.

Acupuncture and the five elements theory describes the relationship between macro and microcosm. These five elements are actually four plus one (center): Fire (summer) maximum yang, water (winter) maximum Yin, Wood (Spring) symbol of growth, Metal (Fall) evokes the concentration and the Earth (center) all the interstate. In the dynamics of these movements are including both the cosmic processes (external), such as anatomical, physiological, psychological (internal) Each element (Water), is an organ (kidney), viscera (bladder), emotion (fear) a secretion (urine), language (groan), one sense (hearing), fruit (hair, bones), one color (black), taste (salty), a cereal, animal, mineral … one planet one season (winter) and a cardinal point (north)

There are two cycles or basic laws that govern these processes. The first is the generation or creation, is one based on nutrition, therefore, a relationship mother-father-son … Wood is the mother of fire, the land, the land of metal, the water and the water timber.

The second law is to control, reflecting internal processes, and describes ensures balance and prevents the domains of one element over another. Fire controls metal, the wood, the wood to the ground, water it and water control the fire.

What we can acupuncture help?
Acupuncture understood as an integrated part of a medicine, diagnosis and treatment of their own. You can help in all those processes that we want not only symptomatic relief but deep. Proposing a comprehensive and attention to the disease and its causes. It helps us to improve the response des immune system, the quality and distribution of our vital energy … And a deeper meaning to understand the relationship of those signs and symptoms in each case, a more integrated way.

Origin and history of acupuncture
The use of acupuncture in China dates back five thousand years.
Even preserved sixth century texts C. They talk about it. But acupuncture is not known in Europe until the s. XVII by missionaries but by then it was regarded as little more than a curiosity.

In 1823, a doctor from Norfolk (England) published in the journal “Lancet” treatment of his invention he called acupuncture, which consisted of inserting needles to help evacuate the liquid to be ill with dropsy. We also used the term to describe a treatment that became quite popular, to relieve arthritis pain, consisting of sticking a needle into the affected part. When acupuncture began to become better acquainted in Europe (thanks to some French were impressed by its effects during the colonization of Indochina), it was recognized that acupuncture “Chinese style” was much more refined nature. And so did the French diplomat stated Soulie de Morant in 1939 the first major treatise on the subject.

Chinese medicine is primarily a preventative medicine. Previously, doctors, charged to their customers while they were healthy and when ill, they were the ones who paid the patient and running the cost of their care. Similarly, when a patient died without being justified by natural causes or in relation to the severity of his illness, was hung on the doctor’s bluff. So, everyone could know how competent was the doctor.
