Short or Long Term

There are two types of insomnia:

~Insomnia occasional or short-term:

This type of sleep disorder encompasses 50% of people who suffer.
Within this type of insomnia, we must differentiate itself from short-term, that is not usually extend over three weeks, and transient, lasting only a few night.

This type of insomnia is usually caused by stressful situations (such as moving, changing jobs, getting married ,..), night shifts, jet lag, etc. ..

~Chronic insomnia or long-term:

It would consider this if it lasts longer than three weeks, and includes the other 50% of people suffering from problems when sleeping.

In this case, is usually caused by diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, psychiatric disorders such as depression or psychosis, asthma or sleep apnea, habitual consumption of caffeinated beverages or alcohol, or taking certain medications for example.
